Richard is widely known and recognised as an approachable fitness expert, group fitness presenter, writer and television personality both in the UK and internationally.
For over 18 years Richard has devoted his life to working in the fitness industry, with a level of dedication and humour second to none as he has risen from fitness instructor to regional management and studio director to Reebok ambassador.
After leaving academia he went on to work for Fitness First and quickly established himself within the fast expanding company where he moved upwards through the ranks to becoming a successful club General Manager and then Southern Regional Fitness Manager before leaving to consult for various public and private health clubs as they developed their brands.
His passion for both people and fitness meant that he never stopped teaching, dancing, choreographing and training while in management. Eventually he returned to his roots and has become a widely respected and approachable fitness expert, tutor and presenter both nationally and internationally. He has presented fitness around the world in countries including: America, Spain, Holland, Turkey, Brazil, Cyrus and more. In 2008 his streetdance concept, Urban Funk, won the Brand of the Year award as part of the International Fitness Showcase and against some significantly larger and more established international brands. This recognition of his creativity drove him on to develop many other group fitness workouts and finally led onto the creation of Armageddon in 2008 which brought together a fusion between bodyweight and variable intensity interval training.
His outgoing, grounded and infectious personality has endeared him to thousands of people over the years, leading to constant demand for his services as a personal trainer, choreographer and professional consultant. He has featured as a fitness expert/personal trainer on a variety of televison programmes including: This Morning, Sky News, BBC News, ITV, Jordan/Katie & Peter and Newsround.
The role in which he is most recognised and known for is as one of the trainers on ITVs The Biggest Loser. His approachable, calm and yet determined style has proven to be both successful with viewers and contestants alike as he has been responsible for training series winners on two of the three seasons he competed in. As a result of the show Richard has featured on and in countless publications and was once even named the winner of a magazine competition to find 'Hot Professionals you would like to date...'.
Richard's rhythmic background and love of fitness also provided him with the tools to successfully choreograph and present the Jordan Workout alongside Katie Price in 2005 which went on to become one of the biggest selling fitness dvds of the year. His appearances on Jordan & Peter: Marriage & Mayhem for ITV2 highlighted his natural ease at presenting and this relaxed attitude led onto 2006's No.1 selling WOW Workout DVD with Vicky Entwistle (Coronation St) which sold in excess of 220,000 copies and still features in charts today. Richard is one of a very small, select number of trainers who have featured in a number of top selling fitness DVDs. By presenting 2008’s ITV Dancing on Ice: Dancercise fitness DVD, followed by three Biggest Loser fitness DVDs, Richard has firmly established himself as a popular, competent and successful fitness DVD choreographer and presenter.
With a fitness career that has almost spanned two decades, a constant drive to keep pushing the boundaries and energy levels matched by his passion, Richard is very much still the genuinely positive and optimistic individual that started out many years ago in the industry wanting to change the world.
